Description

From the creator of Little Nemo comes this pioneering cartoon strip, a world of dreams and nightmares, fraught with episodes of wish fulfillments and exaggerations in size and perspective. This facsimile of the rare 1905 first edition recaptures Winsor McCay's imaginative brilliance and his influence on latter-day animation with 60 cartoon sequences.

Being a collection of one of McCay's "other" strips. In my humble opinion, it compares favorably with the more celebrated Little Nemo, though it admittedly lacks that strip's spectacular graphics. However, these story lines are more focused and the imagery less constrained by the conventions of the day aimed at attracting children to the series.
Not his best, but even his mediocre work is intriguing and ground-breaking for its time.

Collection of turn-of-the-century dream comics. Essential for anyone interested in comics, dreamwork, or proto-Surrealism.
