Anne McCaffrey is an author I always enjoy reading. I really loved the way this series started although I felt it lost a bit of its appeal as the books went on.I do find it to be a very fascinating world with great characters but I am not sure I love the formula of the story telling. But I still quite like it.
This is the second book following the story of the selkie twins Ronan and Murel. Though I enjoyed Changelings quite a bit more than this story, this was a good sequel that kept the story going and I am now awaiting the third installment due to the cliffhanger ending. You will fall in love with the animals on Petaybee and I believe that is why I keep reading these books about the twins. Sky (an otter) is my favorite character. This book is very well suited for Young Adult readers, but can also be a good, short read for adults. I recommend reading Changelings before you pick up this book. If you enjoy these, you should read the trilogy that started it all starting with 'Powers that Be', they are terrific and I would recommend them to all show more fantasy lovers! show less
This was an OK read but the story seemed to be geared to a much younger audience the almost felt like I was reading a middle school book.
I'm guessing this is YA. I didn't realize it was book two of a trilogy. I probably would have liked it more if I'd have read book one...
It stops rather abruptly and before any resolution to the largest conflict in the book, which was my clue that it was not a single novel.
I think this is probably a two and a half star book and I'm not sure if I'll order the other two or not. It was just okay.

This book was a bit disappointing and was only saved by the very cute Sky otter. Fortunately books 1 & 3 are better.
