Young Oliver Keaton wants nothing more than a baby brother. When his sibling is born and turns out to be a girl, his quest for a baby brother continues. This picture book hilariously addresses a common issue that comes up when a child gets a new sibling. While trying to exchange his sister for a baby boy, Oliver soon realizes that having a baby sister is not so bad after all in fact, he enjoys her presence. This is a pretty decent book for parents who about to introduce a new baby to read to the older child.
This book is funny! Oliver wanted a baby brother more than anything in the world. Unfortunately, he got a baby sister instead. He searched high and low looking for a baby brother replacement. He never found one that was as good and smart as his sister. As his sister grew up he accepted her more and enjoyed her companionship. He no longer was searching for a baby brother. One day, his mom got pregnant and he thought finally – now I get a baby brother. Then, out popped another girl. I’d use this book in my class if there is a student who would become a big brother or sister. I’d also use this book to each acceptance and you should be happy with what you have. Some things are out of your control.

This book has strong and relatable content for most children. Children who have siblings will connect very well to this story. The illustrations are done well but play into gender stereotypes. There is definitely a separation of what boys do and what girls do which is not accurate. It does have a good moral stance for siblings.
Oliver gets excited for a new baby brother when he finds out his mom is pregnant. Unfortunately his dream brother turned into a baby sister. He makes an effort to find a baby brother instead, even if it means trading his sister in. When he fails, he realizes that he loves his family and that includes his sister.

Recommended Age: Preschool
Oliver really wanted a baby brother but instead his parents gave birth to a girl. He pretends to accept it when family members gathered together to meet the newborn but in the inside, he hates everything about it. Oliver set out to numerous locations seeking and examining babies to be his brother. Oliver soon realizes that having a baby sister isn't as bad as he thought. I loved the artsy illustration displayed in this read.
This book is a realistic fiction book about a boy who is unhappy with getting a sister. The main character Oliver struggles through trying to replace his new baby sister with a baby brother. However, after lots of searching Oliver realizes that his baby sister is the best baby of them all. This book shows how siblings cope with adding members to their family and to life change. It is a good book to help kids understand that all siblings can be fun at times.
Feiffer's story does not match the quality of Goode's illustration, but a funny and charming story nonetheless.
