Good grief. Read in a single sitting including refusing to put it down as I made lunch, reminds me of Anne Bishop in terms of emotionally attractive writing. I’m just sorry this is book one of a trilogy as I’m now hanging to read what happens next. The first few chapters are available online if you want a taste and I think you do.
