Genre: Fiction
Review:
This book is fiction because Scobby is a dog and he has many human attributes including being able to say a few words. In this one he stands up on his hind legs and turns the lights on.
Use:
1) Use it to talk about fears and reality
2) Teach Phonics soft C, G sounds

The early 2000 Care Bear books for children, such as this one, are simpler in language, characterization and plot when compared to the original Care Bear books published in the year 1983. I understand the value in simplifying language so that children can better understand what they are reading, however "Lucky Day" has far less descriptive words than my 1983 book, "The Care Bears' Garden". Adjectives are crucial for characterization and setting, even in picture books. Please don't dumb down books for children.

Also, when you compare the lesson taught in the 1983 book (you can show that you care about others, by planting gardens in cities) to the 2003 book (sometimes you have bad luck, but there's always a silver lining), I would say that the original book has a more important lesson.
