This is almost two books:
The section that contains the notes from Joseph's discourses shows two things. First, it shows the humanity of Joseph Smith. You can almost see the smile, hear the expression in his voice, and feel the emotion behind the words. Secondly, women haven't changed much. They're still opinionated, hard workers, contributors, and wanting to be involved-- and the leaders of the church are just as willing as Joseph to have them involved.

The first half of the book contained thoughtful essays from two of my favorite strong women-- each strong in her own way. It's a nice piece of work.… (more)

The insights of Sisters Dew and Pearce are always valuable, and these are of particular interest for the historical and doctrinal connections.

The subtitle for this book is "Making Space for God's Love in Your Life." That was really the focus of the book, starting with her experiences as she and a group of friends agreed to try opening their hearts to others and trying to see them the way God would see them.

The book is designed really as a workbook, with exercises on how to open your heart, stop judging others, and most of all, change your attitude toward others. I found it helpful. I agree with her that being kind and caring with neighbors or people you meet on a chance encounter is much easier than doing the same thing with your own family. But I need to keep working on that, so I'm glad I found this little book.… (more)

Helps you understand Sister Hinckley better. My favorite is that she would not do the dishes on Sunday.
