About meI'm an amateur naturalist, aspiring writer, blogger, and bibliophile (obviously!) living in the province of British Columbia, Canada. I read a lot of books - typically over 100 in a year, although I'm not sure how I manage this, as I don't think I read particularly fast and I don't even read every single day.

About my libraryIn fiction, I enjoy quality fantasy and science fiction, as well as some nineteenth-century English literature. Ursula K. Le Guin is my favourite author, and I love any of her books. In non-fiction, I mostly read natural history, Celtic culture and mythology, books about books, and the history of science (particularly astronomy and physics). I also collect field guides, mainly out-of-print editions to the flora and fauna of British Columbia and surrounding areas. I have eclectic tastes, so you'll see many books in my library that do not fit into any of these categories.

All of the books in the "my library" collection are books that I own. I try to keep only the books that I am likely to re-read (with some exceptions, such as the field guides mentioned above), and once I remove a book from my physical library, I also remove it from my LibraryThing catalog. The "Household" collection lists books that officially belong to other members of my household, and so are not stored on my personal bookshelves - although some of them may make their way there eventually! The "Read but unowned" collection mainly lists books that I have borrowed from the library.
