About meI have loved books ever since I have been able to read. And probably I was born knowing how to read. I am very fond of organizing my bookshelves and simply admiring and looking at my books, as well as reading them.

I am currently resisting adding my wishlist to LibraryThing as it would probably end up being larger than my actual library. I have listed all of the books that I own, as well as an incomplete list of books that I have read but do not own (but intend to own one day).

Topics/genres of special interest include: quality fantasy and science fiction novels, particularly those based on traditional themes and stories and with a modern twist; nineteenth-century English literature; poetry and poetics; natural history, nature, and nature spirituality; books about books; the history of science, particularly the history of astronomy and physics in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries; Celtic culture, mythology, and folklore, including modern retellings of the old myths; (out of print) field guides to the flora and fauna of British Columbia; and absolutely anything written, edited, or translated by Ursula K. Le Guin.

About my libraryI organize my books in my physical library roughly by size (they look better that way and the small books don't get lost among the oversized ones) and then alphabetically by author within each size class. Multiple books by the same author are organized by date of first publication.

Description of my rating system:
0 Books I haven't read yet or otherwise haven't rated
0.5 Boring, poorly written, or otherwise not worth my time
1 Weighed, measured, and found wanting
1.5 Below average
2 Not that great, but not terrible either
2.5 Average
3 Okay
3.5 Above average
4 Good
4.5 Very good, excellent
5 I absolutely love this book!
