About meA bookish person who enjoys history, literature, science (especially botany) and languages. I have a fondness for the rare and obscure, and I delight it being the only person with a particular title. I read more than I can buy, and the library of my imagination is much larger than the list of titles I actually own.

About my libraryScience from university days forms the oldest part of my library, with a smattering of fiction. I've discovered the fraternity of book collectors in the last 3 years and I have been since collecting antiquarian titles. I have bought a few small book collections, for example, one strong on religious and calligraphy titles, and another group from an ex-linguistics professor with many books about little-known languages. I seek out interesting books on Craigslist, eBay, AbeBooks, thrift stores and garage sales. The next acquisition is always the most important.

GroupsAncient and Medieval Manuscripts, Antiquarian Books, Antique and vintage books, Biographies, Memoirs and Autobiographies, Book Collectors, Discarded, friends of Maugham, Geeks who love the Classics, Historical Fiction, Medieval Europeshow all groups
