They've been open since Xmas at the San Pablo store. Not all unpacked and put back on the shelf, but it's back.

The flagship store on Shattuck Avenue closed on May 31, 2009, after losing its lease. The store is planning to open a retail store within its warehouse on San Pablo Avenue, and continues to buy and sell used books, according to its web site.

The store's website, http://www.blackoakbooks.com, has more information about the sale and future plans for the store. It's nice to see some good news about Black Oak.

The Berkeley Daily Planet reports that Black Oak Books reopened earlier this week after a one-day closure, occasioned by the sale of the store to Gary Cornell. link

I found here an absolutely exquisite 1910 hardcover edition of Cyrano de Bergerac, in French, for fifteen dollars.
I haven't been back since because I, quite irrationally, almost feel like I stole something, but I should get over that. It's a lovely store.
