BOOK 4 AND CONCLUSION OF THE BLACK TIDE RISING SERIES FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES BEST-SELLING AUTHOR. Sequel to Islands of Rage and Hope, To Sail a Darkling Sea, and Under a Graveyard Sky. A hardened group of survivors fights back against a zombie plague that has brought down civilization.

With the world consumed by a devastating plague that drives humans violently insane, what was once a band of desperate survivors bobbing on a dark Atlantic ocean has now become Wolf Squadron, the only hope for the salvation of the human race. Banding together with what remains of the U.S. Navy, Wolf Squadron, and its leader Steve Smith, not only plans to survive—he plans to retake the mainland from the infected, starting with North America.

John Ringo and zombies! The Wolf Squadron begins winning back the mainland US. This has been a great series that concludes with this exciting volume. The good guys work to a plan with organization and competency, an excellent departure from the usual zombie tale. Great characters, lots of action. Recommended! ( )

More "Tom Clancy"-esque details of military action than actual action. You can see how Faith and Sofia are growing into their roles in the military, but overall it's less "fun".

Also the gratuitous "We need VP Rebecca Staba (Sarah Palin) to save us because liberal politicians (Secretary of Education) are worthless" thread annoys me. You can be socially liberal and still logical, understand science, and even understand the necessary to kill those whose only desire is to kill you. ( )

I admit I was a touch wary about this series when the phrase "zombie apocalypse" came up, but it's actually pretty good. ( )

If you only read one zombie apocalypse series, the Black Tide Rising series should be the one! Seriously, this series is far better than most zombie apocalypse books. In this 4th (and final) installment, the Wolf Squadron has finally established a secure base and is ready to start clearing the continental USA. The methods and logistics of clearing large numbers of infected from large cities or military bases is the primary plot of this book. This one is told almost exclusively from Faith's point of view. I enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the previous books. Ringo has chosen to stop this series where the real hard work of rebuilding would begin, but I can't blame him, that really wouldn't make an exciting novel. ( )

A nice ending to the series (though I wouldn't have minded following these characters even farther into their lives!).

Funny, violent, and full of zombies, just like I love!

Recommended. ( )
