This book wasn't what I was expecting. It took me a while to finish this book, where in the past, I have devoured KA's books. I couldn't connect to the characters. They were too juvenile and wishy washy. They didn't win me over in the beginning. The book takes a turn in the middle, which really was the saving grace for me. Things started to heat up. The writing changed. In the beginning the writing and development of the story seemed off, lacking. But once the book hits about the middle of the story, that all does change. It's like a switch went off in KA's brain. The book picked up and kept me captive. Overall this is a good setup for Trihn's book. I think those that have been reading this series and following this author since the beginning will be completely satisified with this novella. I am not sure where to go with this review.
