Sunset Magazine was the bible of California-style life while I was growing up on the central California coast in the 60s and 70s. The associated set of books (topical collections of the magazine articles) from Sunset Books were (and are) iconic guides to the upper-middle-class California life-style of the era. This cookbook is an outstanding example of the genre. The recipes are still quite serviceable, given the changes in belief about dietary composition since it was first published. My copy of this book comes from my mother's kitchen. It has my own family's favorite recipe for BBQ country-style pork ribs -- we've been using it for 25+ years, since my aunt (my mother's sister) introduced it to us. That recipe alone justifies finding this cookbook for your library. ( )
