Deer hunting n Blanco County, Texas it is a way of life. Everyone is waiting for the opening day of hunting. Poachers are out in the days before the opening, and John Marlin, game warden, is there to issue the violations.

Roy Swank is the owner of the Circle S Ranch. He has invited high-profile hunters to shoot the trophy bucks he is raising. The Colombians who have arrived at the Circle S have more than hunting on their minds.

A fun tale. The antics of the poachers make this a hilarious story.

Western mystery...meh. Not even close to the Hillermans. No need to read beyond the first volume. ( )

Surprisingly good for a free/cheap kindle book. Over the top characters, but I like that. I would not be adverse to reading another by this writer. ( )

A Blanco County, Texas Novel, with John Marlin Game Warden, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, typecast characters Red O'Brien and Billy Don Craddock--two "good ol' boys" only a fellow native Texan could really know and love (but be careful, liking these two nut-cases is contagious). and with hunting season fast approaching, Game Warden John Marlin has enough to think about without a friend in a deer suit; a Buck whitetail who is all too familiar; Columbian bad-boys after some white power in little packets, a sheriff that leaves much to be desired, two many people-bodies turning-up, and a lady from Dallas who catches his eye. While the books provides a good laugh or two, (or three) it has good characters to love and hate, and, bottom-line, is a gosh-darn good read. ( )
