All the grammar and usage advice I needed at several workplaces where I wrote software, but found that knowing how to write about software, to explain it, was a valuable tool, something I was good at, better than most other programers I met.
This is an excellent book on Enlglish language usage. The book has undergone several editions since I purchased mine, but the core holds up well. It is well organized and easy to use. Its size makes it simple enough to keep handy.
A concise reference, though not as compact as it would be without hundreds of exercises. It's written as a system for writing, proofreading, and assessing.
This an old standard, even if my edition is also a bit dated Sections that are particularly good, not always covered by other such books are an example of writing an entire composition with detailed explanation, how to be exact - using a dictionary to help , transitions between paragraphs, paragraph development
