This is a coffee table picture book. It contains paintings and other art attributed to great artists of the west: Caitlin, Deas, Bingham and Russell, to name a few. Most of the art is black and white. It contains quotes on most pages, from the journals of Lewis & Clark, that relate to the art displayed. I was surprised to learn that the art did not relate directly to Lewis and Clark, rather, it was just "American". Not bad, just disappointing.
Nice little overview fatality for Seattle Art museums. Now I understand the backstory on the hanging car display.
