Unusal perspective of life in Melbourne during the second world war. The artwork is impressive and drives the story as well as evoking an atmosphere of the distrust and antagonism (that is rarely discussed) that existed between socially progessive and conservative Australians at the time.
A graphic novel about art and artists, set in Australia. A Sydney couple, Choosy and Dimitry, travel to Port Douglas in far north Queensland in pursuit of a mysterious artist who gives his or her (very good) works away. Choosy is a gallery curator and Dimitry is her burnt out painter partner. They cohabit but there is increasing distance between them. They rarely touch. In Port Douglas (rendered beautifully as a moody seascape -- I've been there and I found the pictures very evocative) show more Choosy becomes increasingly obssessed with the anonymous artist. Then there's an abrupt ending which I didn't entirely understand. show less
