It’s been almost twenty years since Caroline’s 5-year-old daughter, Hayley, was kidnapped and later found murdered. Caroline is now remarried, has a teenage son and an 8-year-old daughter. Suddenly unexplained things begin happening—Hayley’s clown doll which went missing when Hayley was abducted, reappears; Caroline thinks she hears Hayley’s voice calling for her; people connected with Hayley’s kidnapping case are being murdered. Has Hayley come back from the dead, or is this the show more work of some other sick psychopath?

This was a strangely compelling read, both creepy and disturbing, with an interesting assortment of characters in the cast. Very engrossing, fast-paced, kept me guessing, and held my interest throughout.

Dara Prince has been missing for three years. Everyone in Winston, West Virginia believes she ran away. But the discovery of a body, long-dead, wrapped in plastic, and floating in the creek may very well tell another ending to Dara’s story. But if Dara’s dead, who’s been mailing her father all those postcards, supposedly from Dara herself?
Christine Ireland is determined to find the truth and, when Dara’s diary unexpectedly turns up, she discovers Dara believed someone was stalking show more her. And now, people who knew Dara are dying. Is it possible that Dara herself is the one behind all the murders?

Although several characters appear and then have little to do with the story, readers will find the suspense builds as the story progresses. But the unexpected, out-of-the blue ending may be almost too implausible for some readers to accept.

This was a pretty good page turner. I kept going back to it when I got a few minutes to read. I would have stayed up late into the night to finish it if it had been necessary. The plot was pretty creepy, with lots of twists and turns.

A child disappears. Body is found, burned and beheaded. Twenty years later . . . her doll appears, her voice is heard, people start dying around town, accompanied by black silk flowers with notes in childish scrawl . . . what is going on?

The ending left me show more rather unsettled -- as was its intent, I believe. But it was quite creative . . . I did not figure this one out. show less

This is a book that grabbed me from the first page. I eagerly worked my way through the myriad of twists and turns to see how this mystery would be solved. The author has provided an interesting and intense book about Brynn and Mark Wilder’s father, who went down in history as the Genessa Point Serial Killer. Neither Brynn nor Mark believe he was the serial killer, but, while Brynn has moved on with her life, her brother is determined to out the truth. Thus, Mark returns to Genessa Point, show more searching for answers, and vanishes. Brynn follows him. Brynn then follows a twisted and turning path to finding Mark and solving the mystery of whether their father was the killer or, if he was not, who , who is the single was the killer and is the killer still around. Normally, I do not get very caught up in mysteries (I read many) but I found myself unable to put the book down as I read, waiting to see if the next few pages would bring me any closer to figuring out just who the real killer was. In addition to this mystery, there is a romance between Brynn and the town’s Sheriff who is also a single father of an almost teenager. This story is extremely well written, with well-developed characters. I found myself at the edge of my seat on more than one occasion, as I read more and more about what had actually happened the day Brynn and Mark’s father died and became known as the Genessa Point serial Killer. The author definitely knows how to build up suspense, while not going too far. In addition, Brynn’s relationship with the Sheriff’s young daughter also rang true and endearing. I think this book can easily lead to a follow-on book or series, which I hope it does. I would love to read more about the charters presented, as they work their way through the ups and downs of life. In addition to the mystery surrounding the serial killer and who he or she really was/is, the author developed the characters as real, likable people, working and living their daily lives. I have not read more by the author, but will now look for other works. I think anyone who enjoys a great story and mystery will love this book. I know I did. I received this from NetGalley to read and provide and honest review. show less
