Short biography
Nicole "Nikki" Burnham is proud to be a fifth-generation Coloradoan. However, as the daughter of an Army dentist, she was raised traveling the world. At present count, she's lived in eight U.S. states. She also had the great fortune to attend Mannheim American High School in Germany. Growing up "military" gave her the opportunity to see the world in a way most American kids never can — her parents took her someplace new most weekends and nearly every school break. How many people can say they’ve skied the Swiss Alps, snorkeled in the Grenadines, and successfully haggled their way through Cairo’s Khan al Khalili marketplace? Needless to say, that upbringing left her with a permanent travel bug.

After graduating magna cum laude from Colorado State University with a BA in political science, she obtained both a law degree and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Michigan. She then focused on establishing what she thought would be a long, secure legal career. Those who know her weren’t surprised to see that the long, secure legal career didn't stick. She soon realized writing romance would be a more adventuresome career choice than writing stale legal briefs and started work on her first manuscript.

Though she now lives in a beautiful small town in Massachusetts, she still considers Colorado to be her home. When she's not at the computer, she enjoys relaxing with her family, spending time in her rose garden, playing in her local softball league and traveling — the more exotic the locale, the better. You can write to her at P.O. Box 229, Hopkinton, MA, 01748-0229. If you'd like to know about Nicole's upcoming books and appearances, check out her Web site at www.NicoleBurnham.com.

Small town romance fan? Oh are you in for a treat! This first installment of the Bowen, Nebraska series delivers all the heart, all the family, all the warmth, all the MAGIC that readers expect and then some.

Katie runs The Bowen Bride, a local bridal shop started by her grandparents, but it wasn't always her dream. Once upon a time, she sought bigger cities, brighter lights, and grander notoriety...but sometimes what we WANT and what we NEED are two different things. It took stepping out of show more the dream for her to find her heart's true desire...and even that revelation is about to be reevaluated as a second chance at true love comes her way. I adored her character and how she lived with an open heart. True, she protected herself from unnecessary pain, but who could blame her with the sorry excuse for a significant other she had the first time around? Her heart of gold shone through in everything she did and it was simply a matter of time before someone worthy of knowing it saw its shine. Now, speaking of that second chance...

Jared is a single father and locally renowned craftsman, yet despite the life he's built for his family of two, underneath it all, he still battles feelings of inadequacy. You'd never guess it to look at him (and no, we're not simply blinded by his obvious good looks!), but this jack of his trade has a heart bruised as easily as yours or I, yet it also contains the strength to raise his daughter solo, build a good life for them both, and protect them come what may despite what small town looks or gossip may follow him. It'd take a woman of substance, a person of character, someone with a heart of gold (and perhaps a jilted past of her own) to truly GET him...though I'm certain the news of his daughter getting married, he could have done without. I really liked his character as well, for all the obvious reasons and perhaps a few easier to see once you've read the story. He's genuine, doesn't play games, but isn't crass or harsh as the case COULD be. No, he didn't let himself grow bitter from his circumstances, only BETTER...if he could only see that in himself.

What begins as a "partnership" of convenience, gradually turns into genuine friendship with obvious sparks hinting at the possibility for more. The question is...are either of them ready to explore what could be? Readers will enjoy the gentle flirting and smile inducing fun along the way as they dance ever closer to answering that question, while the flash forward at story's end allows for a potential HEA...hey, I'm not spoiling the surprise!

This book had potential but it kind of fell short. I really liked the premise. A young woman meets a young prince and they have a meaningful "fling" one summer. Fast forward 10 years and the two meet again. He's happy to see the woman he had a great summer with. She's hesitant to see the man who left her pregnant. The two have to reconcile for the sake of their child and neither can stop the old feelings from returning. To me, this is one of the best of tropes. But parts of book failed to show more work for me. I guess to me, there didn't seem to be legitimate reasons for them to be at odds the way they were at odds with each other. They were both perfectly nice and reasonable people and the conflict seemed too out of place. I enjoyed seeing Stefano get to know his daughter, but I wished we had seen more of the aftermath of everyone finding out he has a child. Maybe more of that comes out in other books in the series. I liked this book okay, but I'm not sure if I liked it enough to want to continue the series. show less
I chose this book because after reading The Chosen One I really needed something light and uplifting. This was a great book to pick. It was really cute and a very quick read. The only problem is I did not realize it's part of the series and I do not have the next book! Uh oh. I want to know what happens with Valerie and the two guys she is crushing on.

What the book blurb doesn't tell you is before moving to Europe the guy Valerie has been crushing on finally starts to show some interest and show more then off she goes. Once she arrives at the palace she meets Prince Georg and immediately develops a connection with him. Who will she end up with?

Valerie is your typical teenager who is going into crisis mode when her mom announces the divorce and that she now has a girlfriend. Instead of coming across as bratty I found Valerie really likeable and I enjoyed her sense of humor and occasional embarrassing faux paus. It made her easy to relate to and made this book a lot of fun to read. Valerie's dad was also a great character. I never really thought of there being a person who advises presidents and kings on proper etiquette and now I wonder if this is a real position some where. Inquiring minds want to know? I will definitely be on the look out for the next book, Spin Control.

This is a bind-up of the Royally Jacked series and includes all 3 books; Royally Jacked, Spin Control, and Do-Over. They follow Valerie Winslow who’s parents have just split up. She is given the choice to either stay in Virginia and move in with her mother and her new girlfriend--yes THAT kind--or to move all the way to a tiny European country most people don’t even know exists. Her father has just been reassigned as the King’s new protocol expert in Schwerinborg and invites her to go show more with him. Neither option seem all that great, but she decides that maybe living in Europe for a year wouldn’t be too bad--especially since she’d be staying at the palace with the royal family. That’s where she meets Georg. He is nice, smart and just gets her. He also happens to be heir to the throne which complicates their relationship. She discovers that dating a prince isn’t anything like what the fairytales describe, but she’s fallen hard for the boy and isn’t about to give him up just yet.

First off, I love bind-ups. They make owning and reading an entire series that much easier. I also love the new covers that come with them because they always seem to be so much better than the originals. Isn’t this one just the cutest thing you’ve ever seen?

But anyways, on to the actual books. All 3 are around 200 pages which makes them quick, easy reads. The title kind of makes you think that Valerie is going to get her heart crushed by the prince, but that is totally not the case. These books are sweet, fun and just plain CUTE. I don’t want to go into too much detail about each because I feel like that will spoil it for you, but I will say that I thoroughly enjoyed them. The last one, Do-Over, was definitely my favorite.

As for the characters, they were okay. I did like Val and Georg, but her friends back in the US (Natalie, Jules, and Christie) were kind of annoying. As if moving to an entirely new continent wasn’t bad enough, they made her feel horrible about it. Two of them even stopped speaking to her for like a week when they found out which was just ridiculous. I also felt they were really pushy and didn’t listen to her or what she wanted. But that was also Valerie’s fault because she never really spoke up until about the end of the second book.
