Pooneh Rohi

A beautiful, tragic story, one that I can identify with as an American who many years ago made the decision to emigrate to Europe/Germany - but only to a very small degree. We in "the West" have really no idea what it must be like to come here from "the East". Nevertheless Pooneh Rohi's poetic prose does give the reader a very good idea of what it must be like. An excellent book (again, hard to believe that it is a debut novel).

I really like the way author Pooneh Rohi describes "crayfishing" with his daughter as a father's way to give her a memory, one to last her a lifetime. After her highly successful debut novel Araben a few years ago, she has now proved that she also has talent as a short-story writer.
