Don’t ever let someone tell you a man can’t write romance. I have my favorite stash and Rich Amooi tops them all. I read my first Rich Amooi book, There’s Something About a Cowboy, two years ago and I became an instant fan. His hilarious and romantic situations and wordplay have become his hallmark and have won over this reader.
Lori Martin’s day has gone from bad to worse. It started over an ideal parking space that is being partially blocked by a rude and arrogant man, then her show more boyfriend calls her on-air to dump her and she gets fired. Trying to find a new job in this niche market is virtually impossible, so when she sends in an application for a morning show at a rival radio station, she wasn’t holding her breath. When she gets the job, she finds out she is going to co-host the morning show with Ben Baxter, “Mr. Tough Love”, the rude driver and arrogant talk-show host who she despises for his often unpleasant and brash advice to his callers. Needless to say, the sparks fly and ratings go through the roof with their opposite views of advice for the lovelorn. When the program director forces them to get to know each other better, Lori is surprised to discover a kinder and sweeter side to Ben that she is finding hard to resist. Who is the real Ben Baxter?
Due to lower ratings, Ben Baxter is told he will lose his job if he doesn’t consent to have Lori as a co-host on his show. Lori Martin,”the queen of silly love songs” and “sugar-coated advice”. His plan is to make her feel so uncomfortable on-air, that she quits, but he has to admit she is smart and sassy and is growing on him. Not to mention her smile is magnificent. Let’s face it, he’s screwed.
The incredible chemistry between Lori and Ben is so strong that their audience feels it and approves. I get so much enjoyment with Mr. Amooi’s characters. They are smart, feisty, sarcastic, and oh, so funny! Lori is very caring and pays for her grandmother to live in a better retirement home. Ben is romantic, gives money to charities, and loves animals. What more can you ask for? There is no doubt in my mind that the scrappy and frisky octogenarian, Grandma Joyce is my favorite. Who can’t resist someone who tells Lori her HTTR, hot-to-trot radar, is out of order? And let’s not forget the hilarious callers who want advice on everything from a husband who leaves disgusting things on his wife’s towels to a boyfriend who likes to have their pets in the bedroom when having sex. Last of all, Lori’s song lists may be fun and silly to some, but they are classics to me.
Mr. Amooi has done it again. He’s written yet another bonafide laugh-out-loud romantic comedy I could not put down. If you need a break from the daily doldrums, give this book a try. It will have you laughing so hard, you’ll burn off some of those lockdown calories!
Thank you to Mr. Amooi for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review. show less

"She’d promised herself to quit dating cowboys since she had such a poor track record with them."
Amy Weaver is in a pickle. Her night out with her niece Jennie turned out to be a disaster. She challenged a complete, but hunky, cowboy to a bull riding contest at the Double Deuce bar and paid with a kiss that knocked her socks off. A kiss that her niece posted on social media for the entire world to see including Amy’s family who now thinks she is engaged. When her grandfather, “The show more Great Exaggerator”, manipulates Amy in bringing her new fiance to his birthday party at the family ranch, she has to locate Luke as soon as possible to convince her judgemental father and her ex-boyfriend that she has moved on. Will she be able to keep up this charade with a perfect stranger, or will it backfire on her?
"She was pretty as hell. She was sweet as sugar. She was a pastry chef. Oh—there was one other thing he knew. They were in a heap of trouble."
Luke isn’t ready for a woman in his life right now. He is trying to establish a business and doesn’t have time for anything else, but Amy intrigues him. When she makes him a cash deal to become her fiance for the weekend at her family’s ranch, he jumps at the chance. Was it for the money or for the beautiful, quirky woman who needs his help?
This is a hilarious comedy that had me laughing out loud while eating my lunch in the company lunchroom. Mr. Amooi’s characters are funny, sweet, vulnerable, strong and very believable. A man who knows how to create a real romance with real people in a real location.
Ironically, Julian, California, is actually somewhere I have visited with my husband, his father, and brother. It is as delightful as Mr. Amooi describes it and I recommend trying the buffalo burgers at Buffalo Bill’s Cafe with a slice of apple pie, of course.
An enjoyable read about good and bad choices, love and family, and finding home. Mr. Amooi is on my list of must-read authors. show less

Madam Love, I want a man as hot and strong as Jason Momoa *sighs*, that looks sexy in a uniform, is a bad boy, but has a tender sweet side and….oh wait! This story isn’t about me, Darnit!
Madam Love, also known as Emma Wright, is a fortune teller who helps singles find their soulmate. She is great at her job and has a true gift to bring singles together and showing them that happily ever afters really does exist. Lance Parker is a bestselling author and his book, Your Soulmate Doesn’t show more Exist, is a realist. He does not believe in all this nonsense about soulmates. Lance believes that most women are living in a dream world when it comes to love. Romance books heroes are not real (Wait what? Romance book heroes are not real? *passes out*). When a live radio show brings Madam Love and Lance together sparks and insults start to fly. Lance believes fortune tellers are crocks and Madam Love sets out to prove to Lance that even someone as bitter and jaded as him has a soulmate and with her help she will make sure Lance finds her. Can two people who hate each other so much come to realize that they were truly meant for each other?
I am definitely a big believer in fate. Everything in your life happens for a reason. I can see how fate plays a role in bringing Emma and Lance together even though they both have different beliefs in love. Emma is determined to lead Lance to his soulmate, but fate keeps rearing its head, placing Emma in Lance’s path time and time again. Lance does not even know Emma is Madam Love as she wears a disguise while working. Lance finds himself drawn to Emma and they have an explosive chemistry and as much as Emma tries to avoid him, fate keeps bringing them together. Just her luck!
I really love the chemistry between Emma and Lance. They clash heads quite frequently and it is absolutely hysterical every time they argue. In a way, it’s like they are trying to one up each other with the insults which made me laugh out loud practically throughout the entire story. Emma is such an interesting character because as Madam Love, she is this quirky and snarky fortune teller that gives as good as she gets. On the other hand when she is just Emma, she is sweet and at times shy. Lance really is a stand up guy and like Emma there are two sides to him as well. He can act like a jerk in front of Madam Love and then on the other side act really sweet with Emma.
What comes as even more of a nice surprise for me is that the author is a man (I know right!). I don’t know of many RomCom authors who are men and can write such a hilarious romance like Madam Love, Actually. You Sir sure do know what women like. It is such a pleasure to see a male author take on the romance genre that is dominated primarily by female authors. Rich Amooi you rock!
Madam Love, Actually is a romantic comedy that I just absolutely adored. It is a delightful and charming story full of laughter and wit with characters you just can’t help but fall in love with. Even though this is my first read from Rich Amooi, it certainly will not be my last.
So Madam Love…..about Jason Momoa….oh who I am kidding I would probably wind up meeting Al Bundy! I guess I’ll be sticking with romance book hotties! Grrr… show less

Honestly, I LOVED Ruth's character. I think she epitomized a fair percentage of the female population climbing their way to the top of corporate America, while still trying to stay in the game life wise. It's definitely a balancing act, and one that she lost sight of until her unfortunate flight (which, by the way, was TOTALLY SCARY! I mean, I placed myself in her shoes for those pages and yeah, no thank you...~shudder~) made her reconsider the importance of her work and home/love life (or show more lack thereof) ratio. I get it, she was good at what she did, no scratch that...GREAT at what she did...but when do the achievements ever become enough? When does that last one make us feel like the top dog, winner over all, champion of the masses, etc and let us feel comfortable in our life? It's not the number of wins or the height of our successes that make us feel at one with ourselves and our lives, but the ability to bask in their glow with the ones we love. Whether they be blood relations, our chosen family/friends, or a significant other, those bonds allow of to share our feelings of elation and truly shine at our best.
So yes, this is a FABULOUS book that shows the world how women do in fact run things more often than not, but it's also a fun-infused Contemporary Romance that reminds us that no matter how hard we may fall, the ride was worth the effort, so picking yourself back up off the ground and trying again is an absolute must because we owe it to our selves!
