Pretty ordinary romantic comedy gets a huge lift from an exceptional cast.

2022 movie #222. 1957. Axel (Cassavetes) is a troubled young man with a secret (he was an Army deserter) when he started working on the docks in NYC. He was befriended by Tom (Poitier). But a racist foreman (Warden) had it out for both. Great performances in this gritty tale.
O livreto contém uma breve biografia sobre Faulkner e Martin Ritt, algumas considerações sobre o livro e filme. O filme que vem junto é bom e a parceira Versátil/Folha eliminou todos os extras dessa edição.
2021 movie #144. 1961. Newman and Poitier are American jazz musicians living and working in Paris. Their world and friendship is disrupted by 2 American girls (Woodward and Diahann Carroll) on vacation. Louis Armstrong has a guest appearance. Great score by Duke Ellington.
