what a marathon of a book!!!! Rutherford is a biblical counselor, an encourager, a friend... in every letter. you could break this up as a daily devo for a year. or do the marathon in chunks as i did. either way you read it... just read it! 3
I've only read 5, but I'll need to check it back out/access it through EEBO (?)/get my own copy because, not only do I need it for research, but I'm sure this is a book I'll want to refer back to, and mull over prayerfully, throughout my life.
Treasures of quotes in this book,

No pen, no words, no image can express to you the loveliness of my only, only Lord Jesus.

"Let our Lord's sweet hand square us and hammer us, and strike off the knots of pride, self-love and world-worship and infidelity, that he may make us stones and pillars in his Father's house."
Most of his famous letters were written during his imprisonment for the Gospel
