I bought this book because of a pleasant childhood memory ... of a glass paperweight. It was on the desk in the master bedroom of my father's parent's home, near Oregon City. I didn't know what the star-shaped multi-colored glass rods were called ... millefiori ... but that didn't stop me from admiring them for the longest time. The fluorescent lamp on the desk probably skewed the true colors, but it was neat nonetheless. The Baccarat on page 73 comes real close to being like it. Maybe the show more Strathearn on page 24 is similar too. This book has lots of neat photos and good explanations. show less
Perusing the stacks of a used book store recently I found this book on glass paperweights. With my recent focus on murrine making, I considered this find very fortuitous. Glass paperweights are fully of murrine and millefori. The book gave me a cursory background on glass paperweights which was fairly interesting. More importantly to me it is a wealth murrine examples. With torch time at Dream Fire Glass scheduled for tomorrow, I am studying this book as I work out a plan for how to approach show more my time at the torch.
