Do you work and/or live in a multi-cultural environment and find that some of your well-meaning white colleagues would like to become your friend?

At the same time, do you find yourself having to explain to these same folk for the umpteenth time why Eminem is not the greatest emcee ever in the history of hip-hop? Do you find yourself having to fend off awkward soul-brother handshakes? Are you embarrassed when they use some played-out street talk in order to win your friendship?

My friends, in show more both business and academia: Your time is valuable. What if, instead of spending a lot of time and effort explaining why these actions are inappropriate, to each and every white liberal that come your way, you could just hand them a manual? A primer, as it were, in the history of American race relations. What if this were available for only around ten dollars at Amazon? Perhaps even less, factoring in an academic discount? Or maybe, if you are pestered by really a lot of white people, perhaps a quantity discount would be available!

Yes, it is here, it is real, and it is funny as hell. It is entitled 'Making Friends With Black People', by Nick Adams. Yet, while it is funny as hell, it is also dead serious underneath all that.

My favorite comment:

Nick Adams on Tom Brokaw and the 'Greatest Generation':
They wouldn't share a water fountain with me and they're the 'greatest generation'?

This has to be one of the funniest books I've read and enjoyed in awhile . Nick Adams should definitely do another book along these lines and he's find a fan as well as another cynic to cheer him on .
