Light murder mystery about a young woman who inherits a food truck, which now it seems may or may not be hers. Oh, and people are being killed and she or her truck seems to be the thing that ties them all together.

Maeve is a likeable person whose heart is in the right place and attempts to do the right thing. The right thing isn’t always the smartest thing. The mystery is pretty good and I was pretty surprised at the outcome. I thought the author did well with Maeve’s line of thinking show more with both juggling clues and trying to figure out what to do next. There’s only one area that had me shaking my head and I could easily see readers yelling at her. But without that action figuring out whodunit might not have been possible.

This is definitely a short book, and I was impressed that the editing is much better than most of the self-published books I’ve read. The story sucked me in and definitely held my interest.

Not the worst book I've ever read, but dang, there were some dumb parts. The mystery actually doesn't make sense when all is said and done.

Maeve inherits a food truck from her zany aunt, who may or may not have had a girlfriend after her husband died. So what, you say? Yes, I agree. But apparently that was supposed to be important to the plot, except it so wasn't. Maeve's mom was pretty offensive about the fact that sexuality is a spectrum, not a 50/50 choice. The mystery would have stayed show more the same without adding this part, so it seemed shoe horned in to make a statement. Anyway. Someone is out to get Maeve, and people's heads are being cut off. CUT. OFF. Again, this part was never explained. Ever. Add in the "millennials are a lazy bunch vs. a victim of economic circumstances" theme and the unrealistic characterizations (see lesbian / not lesbian plotline, grouchy yet sexy male characters) and you might or might not be intrigued enough to read book 2. I am a masochist and will read it if it is free and it fits a challenge. Your mileage may vary.

P.S. Who has a death in the family and doesn't ask how they died? Especially if you are the main inheritor? Really? Selfish, selfish, selfish. And dumb.

A cute and quick read. Maeve has inherited a food truck from her aunt. Now people are being murdered and she is a suspect. The characters grow on you.

I have now finished all 14 of this series. I did keep reading it; although, I can't say that I would recommend it as there are a lot of flaws and not everything is tied up as it should be. I am still giving it 4 stars as the characters are likeable and Kendrick did develop them well over the 14 books. They are a clean read which I appreciate.
