Author of The Street
About the Author
Rabon was born in Lodz, Poland, to an impoverished, slum-dwelling family. His literary output was meager, consisting of two volumes of prose fiction and one book of poems. Nevertheless, these works have become recognized for the light they shed on the urban lumpenproletariat of pre-Holocaust show more Poland, as well as for their purely literary qualities. In both style and subject matter, Rabon's fiction is influenced by the works of the Norwegian novelist Knut Hamsun. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
