Packed with actual specific information about how to save money on your wedding purchases, this book is a must-have for anyone even thinking of planning a wedding. Unlike many books in this category which provide vague advice on cutting costs, this book provides names of companies along with contact phone numbers and even web addresses to help you get what you want at a better price. The information on finding a wedding gown for less was invaluable as was the heads-up on the deceptive show more practice of tearing labels out of dresses to prevent comparison shopping. I highly recommend reading this book before you set foot in a bridal store! show less
Baby 411: Clear Answers & Smart Advice for Your Baby's First Year (Baby 411: Clear Answers and Smart Advice for Your Baby's First Year) by Denise Fields
This was the book we turned to every time. Highly recommended for its easy-to-use formatting and commonsense suggestions from a real pediatrician. There were some cases in which we could not find any relevant information in this book, but I guess that is to be expected. All in all I'd have to say, if you're having a baby, this is the book to get! My husband would even read this one.
My husband got this from Amazon before our daughter was born. These books have been a lifesaver on many occasions. When she was under a year, the Baby 411 had a permanent spot on our counter downstairs, and now that she's older the Toddler 411 has taken its place. These books are an indispensible reference for random stuff that inevitably comes up when taking care of a little one, especially if it's your first time. The index has just about everything you could think of that you might have a show more question about, and then the book tells you what's going on, if it's anything to be concerned about, whether you need to see the doctor, or how to take care of it at home. Some topics I've had to look up left me with a couple more questions, but for pretty much everything, there's at least a good overview. It's probably saved us from some unnecessary trips to the doctor, too. show less
