In my opinion this is a good beginners book. I like this book because it's purpose is to inform kids about lions. It uses very simple language with a lot of pictures. For example, it shows two cubs playing together and explains that the cubs have brothers and sisters. I also like this book because it begins with a vocabulary page. Each page highlights a vocabulary word and the picture shows each word. For example, mother is a vocabulary word highlighted and the picture is of a female lion. show more The big idea of this book is to teach kids new vocabulary about lion cubs. show less
Current research increasingly highlights the role of early literacy in young children's development--and informs practices and policies that promote success among diverse learners. The Handbook of Early Literacy Research presents cutting-edge knowledge on all aspects of literacy learning in the early years. Volume 2 provides additional perspectives on important topics covered in Volume 1 and addresses critical new topics: the transition to school, the teacher-child relationship, show more sociodramatic play, vocabulary development, neuroimaging work, Vygotskian theory, findings from international studies, and more. show less
