Gabriele Lusser Rico (1937–2013)

I've read several writer's guides, but this one was the only one that inspired me to put pen to paper. It is full of fun, creative writing exercises. I filled a whole notebook going through the exercises and when I was done I looked over the product and thought, " some of these aren't so bad". This book makes me want to go through all the exercises again and fill another notebook. Any guide that can make the process fun and get your creative juices flowing is a cut above the rest. This book was recommended to me by an editor/agent friend. It opens the mind to creativity and helps the writer use the right-brain. It's fun and useful in removing writer's block. It really works if you're trying to brainstorm some ideas.

The new edition is a far cry from the earlier. It is full of psycho-babel and horrid examples of "good" writing. The earlier edition was a decent writing manual. This is a waste of good paper.
