I was pleasantly surprised at how good this film was since most of the historical depictions from this era are far from accurate, or even have a bit of corn to them.
Although there were chronological discrepancies, the situations were portrayed accurately
Norma Shearer convincingly plays all aspects of Marie Antoinette's character, from the young eager-to-please Austrian princess, to the rather shallow early years of being queen of France, to the older considerate wife of the king and mother show more to her children, and her country. show less

Wise-cracking alcoholics solve another mystery.
It doesn't compare with the original, but that's to be expected. It's a nice enough movie, though, with sufficient Nick and Nora Being Nick and Nora to bump it up from okay to good. But why does the dog have its own scenes?

Wise-cracking alcoholics solve a mystery.
Delightful. I loved the book, and Powell and Loy are just as perfect as Nick and Nora as everyone says they are. There is a frustrating lot of movie in which they're not around, though.

A wealthy couple solves another mystery.
I'd probably think it was a pretty good movie if I hadn't seen the other two or read the book. In comparison, it's not funny enough, Nick and Nora don't get enough chance to be sassy, and the story is cluttered.
