Disgusting, nasty, icky, and absolutely packed with information. Gross out and educate your favorite reluctant tween and teen readers with this book! I'm breaking this book out at my next middle grade class visit!
This is a great book to teach about animals, especially some of their gross behaviours. Boys will love this book. What 9 year old boy does not love to read about eating boogers or feces. Finding out what animals regurgitate and why will catch their attention. The photographs are excellent. They have many closeups of animals that you would not normally be able to see. This book would be a hit in school, classroom and public libraries. Getting those reluctant readers to read this book would be show more easy.

I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love non-fiction books, and am thrilled when a book is well-written. You can learn about all kinds of animals with odd names (Tiger Leeches, Flea Beetles, Foxface Rabbitfish, etc) and there are great explanations of why they are so named. There are wonderful photographs to accompany the text, but I wish there were a few more photographs for illustrative purposes (like some of the moths that are named after characteristics you can only see when they are caterpillars, and there's not a photo show more of that stage). A great book for kids to peruse! show less
Information book with 251 facts about the reasons animals vomit. Would be gross for some audiences, but I can attest that the elementary level ages love this book!
Amazon review: It sounds like cheap pandering to children’s obsession with the gross and disgusting, but actually it’s a fantastic way to learn a lot of science. Following in the footsteps of the bestselling Get the Scoop on Animal Poop!, animal puke serves many purposes in the natural world: it can scare and distract show more predators, feed family and neighbors, protect animals from poisoning (they can’t call 911), aid with digestion, and so much more. show less
