I bought this long ago. I enjoyed the performance of the Christmas Oratorio. However, Britten's A Ceremony of Carols being performed in German rather than Middle English was a major letdown.
Would I recommend it now? There are other, good performances of Saint-Saens's work. If you were looking for Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, I certainly would not suggest this. With half of the CD being rather annoying, I can only give it three stars and suggest that a different choice be made. Still if show more you are buying it for Christmas Oratorio, then you could well enjoy it and skip the last half. Therefore I will give it three stars. show less

This book and CD combo tell the stories behind Saint-Saens "Carnival of the Animals." It delves into each piece and describes what's going on and asks the audience if they can picture or hear it. This is a great book for elementary students. It helps them focus and the music is great.
