This excellent book gives you a view into history of the G.I. in this period. I also enjoyed the detail of the equipment of the G.I. It has over a 100 pictures that show what the GI in the European Theater of War really looked like during their epic campaign across Europe. The author is very good at pointing out details in uniforms and equipment on every picture. From types of boots and undergarments, he has a great eye. This is the second book from this series that will stay in my library.
This illustrated book is a complete pictorial history of George Armstrong Custer. From his early days at West Point to death and glory at Little Bighorn. Custer was one of the most flamboyant and colourful officers ever to have served in the US Army.
Bluecoats: The U.S. Army in the West 1848-1897 (The G.I. Series : the Illustrated History of the American Soldier, by John P. Langellier
I've never been fond of this series. It lacks the plates to go with uniform information, and is simply to small to be an adquate history of the period.
