As far as celebrity memoirs/autobiographies go, this one seemed to just fall flat. I don't think it accomplished it's intended goal, which, if you believe the blurbs on the cover, is that it "...illuminates not only what it's like to be a celebrity, but also what it's like to be a mother, a daughter, a leader, a friend, a sister, a wife...in short, a human being."

I am all of the things described by the blurb (well, obviously not a celebrity!), and yet, I simply didn't feel that this book show more resonated with me. Maybe I had unreasonable expectations, but I had hoped that while writing about how she is just a normal person, who got wrapped up in the celebrity game, she would show how there is a commonality between me, a heterosexual wife and mother in Texas, to her, a homosexual wife and mother in California; unfortunately, I just didn't feel that connection. show less
The story is very weird, but the book is compelling because it's a fascinating look inside Rosie's world...and her psyche. Unfortunately, this book is eight years old, and talks about events more than a decade old...so many things have happened to her since!
Rosie does a brilliant job with this book, touching from subject to subject. It flows together so nicely afterward you feel like you just sat down and had a cup of coffee with her and she related these stories to you in conversation. She makes celebritydom a reality, and not just a fantasy. She shows the good and the bad. She expresses things I've wanted to express and never found the words for. I did a lot of highlighting in this book. She is definitely one of the most down-to-earth people show more who has ever made it to television. Through all the chaos, judgements, media frenzies, she's managed to keep hold of what matters. I adore her in everything she does, and this book only confirmed that for me. show less
Very unusual book for me, but I did enjoy it. I got a little confused with some of the magic aspects and the time travel, but I think that is because I don’t that much about magic.
The story is Riley (our female lead), has been estranged from her grandfather and the magical gift that she has been given. Now her 25th birthday has come upon her she has started having dreams about a man she has fallen in live with. He tells her that she should go to her Grandfather for help. So off she goes to show more her Grandfather, who tells her that the man she is in Love with is a man he went to college with and who disappeared one day.
So together they find a time travel spell and start the ball rolling on Riley’s future. A solid 9 out of 10
