Community and technical colleges exist and are a great way to earn early college credits at discount prices, but you won't learn that in this book about saving money for college.
An absolutely perfect haunted house book for an elementary school library. The pictures are spooky without being horrifying and the text is mysterious and provocative but not nightmarish. The text is simple enough for even young readers to attempt it. It tells just the barest of facts about haunted houses, just right for elementary readers.I got a quick look at this book last week when a book salesman visited my library. I liked it so much that I bought it for my school library.Given that show more Halloween has just passed, I’ll be very interested to see what kids at my school think of this one!A little of this book:“What Are Haunted Houses?Strange events happen in haunted houses. Some people hear screams. Others see lights turn on and off by themselves.”Children’s comments:This book was a big hit with the group of children who looked at it. The group consisted of half kindergarteners and half first graders and they were equally divided between boys and girls. They all wanted to check it out, they said. They were very interested in haunted houses. The text and the pictures were scary, they said, but not so scary that they would not want to read it. They seemed to understand the words. show less
I enjoyed this book for many reasons. First, I like that the font is large and easy to read. In addition, each page is not filled with too much text. There is a nice balance between text and photographs/illustrations. I also liked that there were different vocabulary terms in a bold face font. At the beginning of the book it lists different terms to be on the lookout for while reading. One of the pages has the word "compass" in bold font, and shows a picture of a compass. Finally, I enjoyed show more that this book teaches the history of Christopher Columbus coming to America, but does not overload readers with too much information. I think it's a great book for young readers because they will not be overwhelmed by the content, and the pictures will help them understand new vocabulary terms. The main message of this biography is to teach students about Christopher Columbus. show less

This book tells of some people's individual near death experiences and provides scientific theories which support their stories. The arguement that the experiences are dreams or other is presented as well.

I enjoyed this short book. The topic is interesting and I always loved when teachers had books like this in their reading areas.

I would make this type of book available for students in my classroom because the topic is intersting and will perhaps encourage more reading if a student finds show more it particularly interesting. This book also had a nice glossary which would help with building vocabulary. show less
