Half-Emrys is a story is filled with magical realms, dragons, good versus evil, and secrets that keep you on your toes. Ahnalyn is a young woman who is left with a decision of marrying Lord Brenin. She finds herself worrying for her father since she has been there for him since her mother's death, Naiwen. She chooses to take the chance with Lord Brenin and starts her journey into a new world. She is shy, naive, fearful, and cautious. Brenin is able to bring out the courageous and loving part show more of Ahnalyn in the short time they are married. Within a few months, their lives are turned upside down by a evil ruler with unknown motives. War breaks out and Ahnalyn finds herself alone and fighting more than just herself.
This book is engaging, emotional, and full of plot twist. It is an easy read, and once past the first chapter I couldn't set the book down. Lisa Rector brings her character's to life from within the pages creating a relationship that for the reader that is personal. The family secrets, immortals, and dragons are just the beginning to this enchanting story. Love brings out the light in all darkness.
I would rate this book a 4 star and open to readers around the age of 13 and up. I was a bit hesitant in the first chapter which seemed slow to start, but soon found myself enthralled with Ahnalyn's journey. Since this is a series, I look forward to see what the future holds for this mystical world.

I don't have words to describe how wonderful this book is! I know some people will be surprised to know this, but honestly, I loved this book. I know, romantic fantasy is not my thing, but hey, sometimes you gotta try something new. You'll never know what you'll discover.
First of all, I love dragons. Yes, I admit. It is because of Toothless. But anyways, I think it's amazing that author came up with such an amazing fantasy world with such interesting people, the Emrys, and their powers, show more light, and dragons!!!
Side note: I don't like Niawen's father, though. I'd just love to know what darkness he's hiding.
Secondly, I love snow, so Yeah babe! This book's warmed its way into my heart!
But the conflicts... I think my heart is kinda bruised. I loved Kenrik! But then his brother was a nice guy too! And Owein, he was just too sweet... And No! Let's not talk about Caedryn.
I can't begin to tell you, the author, how much I appreciate it that the book was a "clean" read. Books like this one are a rare find in today's brazen world.
I liked the "highlands" and the "lowlands", and some of the words gave me the impression that the setting is Scottish or Norse. My favourite... hmmmmmmmmm
Wait what??! Was I just slipping away into a daydream? Sheesh, that happens too often for my liking.
But it is so nice to just sit very quietly in the window seat, watching the snow fall, and daydream about the book I've just read.
Okay, that is quite enough. You do not want to get sucked into my interior monologue. I'll just say, I loved the book. Maybe I said that already, but anyways. :)
I'm leaving.

This novel is a lot of fun. It feels so contemporary, with a little bit of magic being the inciting incident that causes all the chaos. I really love Ben and his personality. But most especially I liked how Lexi still loved ALL her family even when, at times, she was down right cursing them.
I think contemporary romance readers and paranormal fans will enjoy this novel, which is a quick, fun, and flirty read.
This novel is Reader Rated (RR) for ages 16+ for some profanity, non-detailed show more fade-out sensuality, and implied sex; also contains mild substance use, mild kissing, and mild violence. show less
