This is a competent commentary, but I found it unclear, and even incoherent, at points. A strength is that Perkins incorporates some of the most recent research on 1 Corinthians, and she is strong on describing the social background to the book.
From the publisher:
"This second and revised edition of Reading the New Testament has obviously profited from the reactions of hundreds of students and other readers n the last decade. It will be especially welcome in adult bible-study groups who are always in search of affordable materials of outstanding quality." John J. Pilch, PhD
