This was okay for me. I like this author's writing style, but it was the main female character that got me. Jeanie gets better later in the book, but what causes the most drama is her idea of how things are supposed to go. She gets upset with Mason for not meeting her expectations, when he tells her from the jump that he doesn't do relationships. I felt like Mason could have handled things a little differently, but Jeanie pretty much expects him to tell her his whole life story after 3 show more weeks. I was glad to see Mason let go of his past and be able to move forward, and the same goes for Jeanie. It was nice that Jerry hung around all that time too. He was a great secondary character. I can't wait to see what happens next from this author! show less
A football player with impulse control issues which are leading to PR nightmares is sent to residential treatment to deal with the issue, and is sent with a chaperone. Yadda-yadda-yadda she heals him. The writing is surprisingly good, especially the dialogue, but there is a cliché on every page, and more importantly under the circumstances where your job is to help a person with dangerous impulse control problems you don't have sex with him. I am all for people being guided by their show more passions in romance and will look the other way for (or actively find super sexy) all sorts of inappropriate boss/assistant, bodyguard/client, etc. hookups, this is the equivalent of sneaking heroin to someone in rehab. Just no. There was enough here I liked to partially override the ethics issue and that got me to a high 2-star show less

This was such a good read! The writing flows well, and the characters were developed nicely. Some of the animal stuff was mentioned in the first book, but everything came to a head in this one. Deric and Edie had great chemistry, and they were good together for the most part. Edie was stubborn to a fault. I understand that she spent her whole life with her dad and her brothers telling her what to do, but I still think she was in the wrong for what went down. Deric is made to be the one that show more apologizes, but I felt like Edie needlessly put herself and Deric in danger. Proving a point is no reason to walk into a situation that you know nothing about. Everything eventually works out, and I was happy to see them be able to be together. I wish that Edie would have had to swallow her pride a little and admit that she wouldn't have been able to do it without Deric's help. I would have loved to have an epilogue with this book. I enjoy being able to see into their futures a little bit. I can't wait to find out what happens with Dex.
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
