A great anthology full of stories topped to the rim with love, hate, attraction, pain. In this stories I found new authors and ones I still adore, each story brings something unique to the table. For now I will review Hate You by Logan Fox until I can type about the others because trust me you’ll want to devour each one. In Hate You we have Jude who comes from a wealthy family’s has an adorable sister, yet he hates his new stepmother and step sister. He sees the stepmother for what she show more truly is and that is a social climbing gold digger. Jude seems to think that Harper doesn’t fall far from her family tree and all her issues are just her being like her mother. They can’t stand each other, their back and forth fighting escalates to tricks being played, and them getting hurt. Harper has issues that she takes out on the bottle and Jude may hate her but can’t stand to see her drag herself through the mud since that’s his job. Not to give too much away because this story was intense, but after hurting each other over and over again their attraction blooms and bleeds off the pages, yet is their hatred for each other and their own lives too much to break through or are they doomed to fall into self hatred and tragic endings because they can’t let go of the hate? When things take dangerous and tragic turns can they survive it? This author is genius when it comes to creating damaged characters in twisted tales that consume the reader to the end. These tropes may not be for everyone but if you can handle the triggers (warning inside) then these authors and stories are perfect for avid dark readers and newbies alike. show less
I especially enjoyed Ms. Timms's book as it was the first time I had read this author, and she has a writing style that kept me entertained throughout the story. So realistic that I found myself rapidly reading to see what happened next! With Claire so open with her feelings and the arrogant, Special Agent Fetcher Hughes of the FBI butting heads throughout the novel could only lead the couple fighting against their feelings. A serial killer is playing with the small staff of the police show more department and they request help to find Claire's brothers murderer and they asked for help, then another and another, and another murder occurs with murder asking them to stop him IF they can! I was so involved with the novel that it ended before I wanted it to, AND NOW I NEED TO READ THE REST! show less
I started reading this book because it was a series and I thought it looked interesting. The writing style was good however, there were sayings and wording in the book that did not match the time/year the characters were in. I've never seen a highlander book that was based back in time where the main character says hes in his birthday suit. It just didn't match up and I wish it would have.
I've always loved historical romance and for the most part this book was good. There are a lot of sex show more scenes that were very detailed, but sometimes they took away from the story itself. I loved both of the main characters, even seperated I think they are great.
I gave this book 3 out of 5 stars because of the wording not matching and the sex scenes taking away from the story. I wish there was more in this first book but I know it's a series so I will try to keep reading it. We will see how the other books are. show less

Celtic Viking: Historical Scottish Highlander Romance (Heart of the Battle Series Book 1) by Lexy Timms
I just finished this and can't help but feel like this was written with the intention of being a standalone book. The story is well written but feels like it was just chopped into parts in order to sell more copies. While I generally understand this strategy and understand the importance of ending with a cliffhanger for those stories; but I almost feel like it is degrading to the author by implying that the book could not sell to a decent sized audience. This also precludes the book from show more receiving awards and making progress on lists and from being reviewed by publications. All of this being said, maybe the writing quality and story is lacking in the further installments. That would make sense of it being broken down into a series of short novellas. I have a feeling that this isn't the case. I will most definitely be reading the rest of the story in the series. The author and narrator both did excellent work.
