Loved it. Beautifully written characters who fumble their way into each other’s arms and manage to save the world, too. Sol is broken, confused, superior, and impossibly stubborn. Jake is a gentle giant, a tinkerer, humble, and stubbornly caring right back. They’re so full of contrasts, but they also connect across lonely, isolated lives, with problem-solving minds, through raw honesty, and in moments of small kindness. The adventure is fun, the romance is sweet and steamy, and the show more ending is both pulse-pounding and exuberant. What a great cap to the series. ❤️‍ show less
Epistolary novels are my catnip, so I was surprised and disappointed that this one left me feeling meh. I didn't buy the Instalove between V and J, the sex scenes were too long and explicit for my taste, and the pacing of the first half was agonizingly slow. I had similar reactions to Davin's sci-fi trilogy, [b:Edge of Nowhere|40657166|Edge of Nowhere (Nowhere, #1)|Felicia Davin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1530122151l/40657166._SY75_.jpg|63189990] show more and [b:Out of Nowhere|48708199|Out of Nowhere (Nowhere, #2)|Felicia Davin|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1572924996l/48708199._SY75_.jpg|74060137] (I never even started the third installment), so I must sadly admit that her writing style doesn't vibe with my reading preferences. show less
Really enjoyed this book, looking forward to the next. These are wildly different guys thrown together in a desperate situation, yet somehow they learn to fit together like jagged puzzle pieces. The adventure story and supporting team are great fun too. I particularly like the author’s nuanced treatment of social / moral issues about runners, looking for the texture between opposites.
I've only read one other novel that blends science fiction and m/m romance this well. (Taji From Beyond the Rings, by R. Cooper.) I am impressed.

Edge of Nowhere has great worldbuilding, and great characters with some serious internal conflicts. Weird challenges! Danger! Weirder danger! Also, trust issues, ethics, found family, blood family, and morals. Also, for those of you who dislike sex scenes, they are few and pretty easy to avoid. But though I am tired of the usual, I enjoyed them show more specifically because they were Kit and Emil. That's excellent writing. show less
