This book is faboulous as you can learn to cook from scratch here. Basic and complex cooking methods are explained. Jehane Benoit, trained as a nutritional chemist, went to Britain during WWII to develop troop rations. This was when Britain and the Commonwealth stood alone for 3 years waiting for the American to show up - 3 years late as usual.
