I'm still working on this, but it's driving me crazy to have it marked as "currently reading" for so many months. This is the most in-depth program I've tried so far, which is why it's taking so long, plus the fact that I am being a very lazy student. (Ironic, I know.) The audio definitely has to be accompanied by the book, which makes it not a good program for listening in the car, but there is so much excellent information. And I love that hiragana is included! I actually got sidetracked show more by that and started focusing on reading and writing instead of speaking. Thank god my library allows so many renewals. show less
I was a bit sceptical about the methodology used in this, but it was the only Japanese script book in the shop at the time and I needed one immediately. I am now about halfway through it and it actually works surprisingly well. I would like to see the writing of the symbols introduced earlier on in each chapter than it actually is, and I would like to know how the content of the book compares to the 1945 officially recognised kanji, but apart from that no real issues. As well as kanji, the show more book covers hiragana and katakana which is what I originally bought it for. show less
Exceptionally poor design. No space provided for practice exercises, cramped pages, kanji printed small making it hard for the novice to see variations.
