Book 10 in my Zombie-a-thon!

CW: Gore

Okay I am going up to a 4 for this one! It's rare for me to rate a book of this nature so highly, however I am fully addicted. The zombie action is so good and it is a true survival against all odds type of story! I love the addition of the Norwegian soldiers as this finally included an incredibly kickarse female soldier. I'm ignoring the potential tokenism of it because she really is very cool. Peter and Amber, our children alone amidst the carnage, show more continue to captivate me with their bravery. Just switch off the critical literary lens and enjoy!

Update: I've already done one update but I have just deleted my comment about the writing. I have been listening to the book and really paying attention to the actual writing and I've got to say it is actually pretty good. I just didn't really notice because the story is so engaging. End of update.

Book 8 in my Zombie-a-thon!

CW: Gore, swearing, child abuse, parent alcoholism

3.5 Stars

Well that was a thoroughly entertaining zombie romp! Plenty of terrifying undead gorging on screaming humans. A couple of central characters that are engaging, especially little Peter. Some isolated soldiers trying to find a safe location to defend, and hordes of the walking dead (and the odd scary running ones) sweeping over the country and tearing apart any living creatures in their path. A good example show more of classic, mindless zombie fiction. I am moving to book 2 immediately because I need to know what happens to Peter! show less
Book 11 in my Zombie-a-thon!

CW: Gore, teenager had previously had multiple suicide attempts and scarred wrists as a result

Hi Devon,

I was just wondering at what point you will cease toying with my emotions. I need to see some of the characters I adore make the connections that will ease my their suffering. I will not elaborate as this would spoil the journey somewhat for others but you know of whom I speak. Also, these books are thoroughly enjoyable and have the best zombie horde attack show more scenes ever.

Kind regards,
Claude

Not great literature, but a fun page turner. Comparisons to The Walking Dead are apt, though notably there are no zombies here to distract from the Three Ls: looting, logistics, and legislating. If you like long inventories of what supplies are hoarded, intricate descriptions of how to provide food and water for a large group of survivors, and arguments about how to order society after civilization has collapsed, this is for you.
