I'm an unabashed Grisham fan, and like all his books. I like the way Grisham develops the story, gradually adding elements, filling in the blanks, keeping the interest level high as the story is told. Legal twists and turns in the State of Mississippi aren't new concepts for him, but each of his books tell a different story. The Partner is about a local lawyer who apparently goes "bad", disappears, and then is captured and brought back to face the charges. The charges against him seem clear show more cut, however things aren't quite as they seem once all the details are told. All in all, a good read. show less
I listened to the abridged audio version of this book during daily commutes and found it ideal for this usage. The work itself is excellent, and the abridgement did not noticeably affect the story. Further, the narrator (performer), Michael Beck is truly excellent. He renders voices of the various characters with distinct differences, and is skillful in his use of accents, especially those of the deep South. I took the unusual course of reading the book in between listening to the audio show more version, and the experience made both more enjoyable. I highly recommend both the printed version and the audio version, and am sure that those who like legal thrillers and the works of John Grisham will enjoy them both. show less
