A delightful compilation of poetry arranged by Christian themes with leading and minor poets included. And let it be pointed out, this is a poetry collection, not a selection featuring chopped-up prose posing as poetry. Alliteration intended.
Catherine Bramwell-Both was the granddaughter of William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army. She lived to be more than 100, and was a redoubtable woman, with many skills and a deep love for humanity. This book charts her life, full of anecdotes, quotations from letters, and memories. Well put together, a fascinating account of an amazing woman. Four and a half stars, really.
Written by children, many from developing countries where they know what it is like to be hungry, homeless or to live in a country at war. Illustrated with photos, many taken by the TEAR Fund relief agency.
Broad range of new and old poems grouped by topic. Includes index of first lines, index of titles, index and brief biographies of authors. A fine collection!
