Oh, to visit the Seven Sins, the premiere BDSM club in Chicago, run by a charming and devilish Irish man and his partner and best friend. I love going into Dani Rene's world, and I hope that we continue to get more even after we get through all seven deadly sins.
Like all the other books, this one is a standalone, but it's interconnected with the 3 previous books, so you can read it without reading them and not miss anything, but it's a lot more fun to read them all, because, well, it just show more is.
Callan is over from Ireland with his sister Cayleigh to visit their brother Carrick, who owns the Seven Sins. When Callan is there, he gets to see lovely Miss Madison Parker. The one person that his brother warns him away from. The problem is that Callan never does what his brother wants him to do.
Madison noticed Callan six months ago and has kept coming back to Seven Sins every Friday night so that she can sit and watch him. He has a dangerous aura around him, but he's all man, and everything that she wants.
The first time I ever met Callan, I was prepared to hate him. He's a bit of an ash-hole at times. OK, maybe more than just a bit. And while I can often forgive that character trait in main characters, he wasn't that in the book we first met him in. But, in Ruthless, Dani Rene managed to redeem him enough that I liked him. He's still an ash-hole a lot of the time, but seeing his inner dialogue and getting to know him more really made me warm up to him. I really liked Madison. Dani Rene has a way of writing female characters who are both very strong and very broken and vulnerable. Madison definitely fits into that. I could have read a lot more of those two and been perfectly happy.
I'm dying for the next book to come out. show less

If you want a book that will leave your mind spinning, mouth agape, and the possibility of needing therapy (highly likely) them proceed forward. This is a game. Only there is no collecting $200at go because it is not monopoly. It's dark and demented, twisted. The characters themselves make the Devil look like a Hallmark movie angel in comparison to them.
This was hard to read. Yet, much like a train wreck I couldn't look away. I needed to see what makes them all tick and survive the show more horrors they went through. They were all broken in someone but I needed to know they could be out back together.
The author did an exceptional job getting into the mind set of depraved characters who started the game and also in the characters that had been forced to play the game that was far from happenstance.
Be warned, this is not a book for the weak. She goes pretty dark...like 13 shades of midnight in parts. Yet, the author gave all of these characters the people they needed to fix their broken and I commend her for it. Brilliantly dark. Truly sublime.
Now, I'm going to check how many therapy appointments I have left for the rest of the year. show less

This book picked up where the last book left off. The story was engaging and had my interest in each chapter that I read. In fact, this book was even better than the first one and by far exceeded my expectations. Everything that I had been wanting fleshed out more was done so and then some in this book.
I really loved how the author built on the retelling of this story and tied in all of the characters of Little Red Riding Hood; Grandma, Lycan (the Wolf), Scarlett (Red), and even show more the Hunter. The push and pull and steam in this book was so incredibly well done. The steam was HOT. I loved that the author tied in the BDSM elements so well, but that isn't surprising because she is one of the best out there when it comes to authentic BDSM scenes. As much as I loved Lycan and Scarlett, it really was another character that stole the show. I hope that the author gives him a book too because he was delicious and I loved watching him grow as a character. I, especially, loved a pivotal scene between Lycan and him. It really gave additional insight into what had happened, why it happened, and into the person that he was.
Great retelling. Definitely my favorite of this particular story that has been done. show less
