After an uncertain start, this book skyrocketed and turned out beautiful. It's all about family, belonging, friendship, closeness, finding home again. Seriously, nothing seductive at all in this pages, and there's none of that needed - although I won't shy away that in future (wink, wink, nudge, nudge!) The twins turned out to be my favorite but really, who wasn't cool in this story? I was worried that councel would screw things up - paranormal societies usually suck so hard in these books - show more but they weren't as bad and intrusive as feared. Some may consider it downtime and pace clogging with all the cooking and details on the family dinners and meal prep, but I personally loved it probably because that's the way I usually try bonding with others as well. It felt like a fuller and cohesive family unit feel. The beginning was interesting but not quite as strong since it seemed inconsistent on the lukewarm reception of the lead - it goes from females being rare and coveted to sideline feels that are easily discarded. I have no doubt now of there being value.
Full review to come, but off to read the next book =)
I usually don't pay much attention to author afterwords, but this one was raw, honest and especially touching. show less

I liked the changes in Anna in comparison to the second book - she accepts her confidence and that she's stronger without trying to overpush it, and most of the military order of things has been left out fortunately. The Fae world was more interesting than frustrating since she learned a lot about her own abilities, but it helped bringing in one of the pack to keep that bond in mind. Jason and Mason still remain my favorite - the greeting and reunifying scene was so adorable, and that shower show more scene = whoah. Shapeshifter politics take a backseat to fae politics this time. 3.5 stars
I liked the first a bit better, mainly because Anna got on my nerves with constantly wanting to toughen up (thought was refreshing in the first book) and making so much a dominance game - and I'm not keen on the military stuff -- but overall it's a worthy sequel. The bonding with the guys isn't awkward although it's hard to feel as much consistency between all when there's SIX. There is a cliffhanger twist at the end that made me happy the third is near. More was explored with show more female pack dynamics with an extremely annoying mother. Despite some annoyances there were steamy scenes, and my hesitation about the multiple POV wasn't too big of a deal since the author mainly stayed in Anna's head. Pacing held up well enough and it was hard to put down - although now I'm craving Apple Pie with ice cream :)

I have to be honest and say the only reason that I gave this book two stars was because I actually do appreciate the author.
Now the reason why I only gave a two stars was because this book touches way too much of books five and six.
If you're going to write someone else's origin story then make it about them and only them.
I understand that Anna played a part in getting Travis back but maybe we could have I don't know written that a little bit differently and not exposed so much of Anna's show more story in book 6.
It honestly drove me absolutely insane. I kept having to stop reading this book and then going and reading book 5 and then coming back to this book and then stopping and reading books six you get my point here right?
I cannot stand books like this. So that's why it only got two stars. show less
