I'm not a Wells super-fan or anything and haven't read The Time Machine in maybe 30 years, so if this was a commentary on the first book it was entirely lost on me. This just seemed like poor fan fiction at best if you take it as a true sequel.

Judging it by its own merits, this is a pretty dull book. Honestly, only the prologue and epilogue are worth reading because the background story is very interesting and Friedell creates an insane, awesome meta-story out of it. But the entirety of the show more book can be read in an hour or two (and if you picture the main characters as Doc Brown and Marty ((or, as I'll admit I did, Rick and Morty)) it's weirdly more enjoyable). show less
