This is a wonderful adaptation for fans of Middlemarch, the actors were well-chosen and capture acutely the drama, the tensions, the characters of Eliot's drama. I watched it so many years ago and yet I can still call to mind the unforgettable scenes from the movie with Lydgate and his wife's growing disenchantment, Dorothea in Italy with Casaubon, Caleb and Mary Garth at the close, and many other scenes. Watching it is an unforgettable experience.
