I won this book through a goodreads contest. I have to say my very first reaction was that the cover what adorable. I have nine grandchildren and I was reading this with a thought of how each of them would have reacted so differently to this book. Some would have loved it and taken this to all kinds of interesting outcomes. Others would have dismissed it after a few readings. Overall I think it is an adorable book with a great message. I would recommend to anyone with toddlers.

With simple words and bright colorful illustrations "I Want To Be A Reader" is a great book for parents to read to their child or for the child to read to them. I loved Maria Montag's illustrations of the cat reading to the mice and accompanying the boy as he learns the letters and words.
I wish I could have given this book more than 5 stars.
